Crowell Gallery – Robert L. Crowell Collection

The Crowell Gallery will be exhibiting the Robert L. Crowell Art Collection January 6th through the 30th. There will be a public reception hosted by the Board of Directors on January 24, 2026 from 1pm – 2:30pm. All are welcome.
The Collection is a body of work procured during the late 1990’s when Mr. Crowell toured southern Vermont with his wife Muriel, visiting studious and galleries of some of Vermont’s most celebrated artists.
Robert L. Crowell, former head of the Thomas Y. Crowell Company (Now part of Harper/Collins), was the grandson of the company’s founder, Thomas Y. Crowell, who began publishing books in 1876 and was the first American publisher of Tolstoy and Gogol. Bob Crowell served as a trustee of the Moore Free Library from 1976 to 2001 and was President of the Board for five of those years. As the library’s primary benefactor, he funded scholarship programs, literacy awards and library renovations. Bob passed away June 29, 1002, in Florida.
