Crowell Art Gallery Features Marianne Mullen

Marianne Mullen is a Vermont mixed media artist working under the name Her Spirit Creates. Her paintings, sculptures, magnets, and jewelry are made from repurposed materials and found objects. The work is colorful, bold, layered, grungy, and provoking, built from torn paper, fabric, paint, and text. Her work is inspired by her experiences parenting, changing careers, navigating midlife, and embracing the path of creative expression. Her pieces treat imperfection as a feature: the messy, the ripped up, the do-over, the work in progress. Many incorporate cut-out words and phrases, and range from small canvas and wood pieces to mini collage magnets. Themes of voice, self-expression, feminism, and spirit run throughout

The Crowell Art Gallery is located inside the Moore Free Library at 23 West Street in Newfane. Library hours are: Tues 1-5, Weds 1-5, Thurs 1-6, Fri 10-5, Sat 10-1
